The reason for the season...

The past month has been CrAzY busy! Dr. appts., cardiac rehab appts, Christmas prep, and business growth! All great things but I just have not had time to post!


With Christmas just days away, how are you feeling? Relaxed, stressed or in denial? I suggest that we remember the reason for the season and relax and enjoy.

They are the SAME!

If you read the "Just when you thought I was back" post, you will know what this means. If you didn't, take a moment and have a look...its quick. Our family has MUCH to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.  May you have a wonder Thanksgiving Day.

Well, it's a storage room...right?

Do you have a storage room? Do you StOrE stuff in there? Well there is storing and then there is dumping!! I have determined that I am OCD/Hoarder. Am I alone? I love/must have things in order BUT I love SO MANY THINGS!! So I'm orderly and add stuff, orderly and add stuff...nowhere to put it...dump it... Then I get crazy and clean out and organize! I have learned that much of what I have can be admired from afar. As in from a stroll through a store or visiting a blog, etc. My plan over the next several months is to clean out and NOT replace items. I will never me minimalist but I strive to be maximum-less.

Goodbye Fall? Hello Winter? Did that seem fast to anyone else?

Just when you thought I was back!

Life is amazing, interesting, a wonderful school of learning, teaching and so much more! And just when things are going along, you know, when you're in the flow, getting things done-you hit the rapids. You are not expecting them. They seem to appear out of nowhere! Yes, it catches you off guard, but you are somehow prepared. We found out that my love has to have open heart surgery next Monday (11/17/14) I will not share all the details, but I will say- thank you to the Dr. that discovered it, ACT when you are prompted, and have a foundation of faith to draw from. We happen to be in Med City as it is referred to and have WONDERFUL friends that are world renown doctors that have and continue to guide us through the process. Now although what he is having is fairly common, it is NOT common to us. There is/has been much to learn from this experience and I am grateful for that. God has a plan for us, for you, and I trust in that plan. He has confirmed to me that it will be ok. I will let you know if His ok and my ok are the same.

After weeks of fighting with my computer, trying to fix it and trying desperately to avoid the blue screen of death...I had to get a new computer. With busy business and trying to learn the new one, get it loaded and ready...it has been some time. But I'm back!!

I love an organized office!

I had the most wonderful opportunity to visit Australia. It is a beautiful country with lovely people. We were there for 18 days and I'm not sure that was long enough! We were there during the first game of the State Of Origin Queensland vs NSW. The NSW team were staying in the same hotel. May I just say these guy are HUGE! Solid muscle!! The day after the game (NSW won) we had breakfast with the team and the coaches. Well, I suppose to be completely honest, they were having breakfast at the same place at the same time...so technically...we had breakfast with them. ;) We did talk to the coach and he was delighted that he had 2 new fans! They played the second game last week and NSW won!!! The first time in 8 years they have won the State of Origin games. Can you tell we now love rugby?!?!?! The scenery was beautiful and I so enjoyed walking all over Brisbane and Sydney! It was such a blessing to be able to see this incredible country. But I am home now and trying to catch up on work, blogging, etc. (we just had a family reunion with our kids and grandkids too)Look for more consistent post going forward. And thanks for staying around! WELL I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED ! I THOUGHT THIS POSTED IN JULY!!!!!!!! BETTER LATE THAN NEVER, I SUPPOSE!!

So I finally found the time to clean up this closet!! Looking much better. For some reason if the mess has a DOOR to cover it, I can manage to wait (procrastinate)cleaning it up! With a family reunion on the schedule in June, I decided to get a jump on some of the less desirable spots in my house. (most have a door on them):) MUCH better! More OrganizeDesign to come!

Closet...Yuck!!

I just hate when items get pushed and shoved into a closet! First of all, do I really need all of these items? And if I DO, certainly they could be OrganizeDesigned. This is on my radar for today....or tomorrow! I have OrganizeDesign appointments today and THEN I will get to this yucky closet. What area do you need to add a little OrganizeDesign to? I'll post the finished project soon.

From back order to....

The office is STILL in the messy, yucky stage!! The cute, perfect, wonderful storage that I ordered was back ordered. Then I received an email that "the cute, perfect, wonderful storage pieces you ordered have been DISCONTINUED". Ok, they didn't say cute, perfect, wonderful but they might as well have. I was/am sad... So once again I am on the look out for the above mentioned storage pieces. Until they are found the office is, well, blah!! When they weather decides to stay nice for more than 1 day, I have a table to paint which will help with organization greatly!! I am also turning the guest room into a playroom/hang out for the grandkiddies. Way too much real estate to just sit on the outside chance someone comes to visit in the frozen tundra. After our family reunion this summer I will move into high gear to get it done for them. Until then, here is a piece of artwork I spotted at Home Goods. And yes, I need to clean the mirror. Just hung it up to get it out of the way. Do you have a guest room? Does it get a lot of use or is it a multi function room?

Basket LoVe

I am STILL working on my office! I am waiting for the delivery of the cute storage cabinets. In the meantime, I am looking at, with love, baskets and other types of storage containers. As you know I love, and encourage my clients to containerize, containerize, containerize. I am anxious to complete this project...but for now enjoy some photos of lovely Target baskets. Perfect for some OrganizeDesign!

It's Moving Day...,

It's moving day! I am moving my home office back to the lower level. When my daughter, her husband and 2 precious children moved in with us 16 months ago my office became the children's bedroom. They have now moved into a lovely townhome just 10 minutes away. I am so happy for them! My husband and I have been sharing an office for awhile but the time had came to move back downstairs. Did I mention I have a love/hate relationship with a move of any kind? Here is how it shakes out: I LOVE-to rearrange things, redecorate and organize. I HATE-the in between time, the mess before the finish. That is where I am right now...so I am blogging instead! Actually, that is only part of it. I am waiting for the delivery of my lovely storage pieces. Pictures of those soon! What are your thoughts on a move...of any kind?

It's kids play!

Organizing is not always fun or easy. It can be time consuming and stressful, however I believe that this before and after proves that it is SO worth it! If are looking at an overwhelming OrganizeDesign project I hope this gives you some inspiration!!

What is the one thing that keeps us from being OrganizeDesign{ed}? For many that I have worked with,it is TIME! The time to get OrganizeDesign{ed}and/or the time to stay OrganizeDesign{ed}. It is not a one time event! It is a daily habit, routine or obstacle! This area was decluttered, OrganizeDesign{ed} and relocated. Many items were given away and now it feels and looks great! It is not only easy for the children to find things, but also to clean up! Great Job Jen! Let me know what your biggest obstacle is to being OrganizeDesign{ed}.

Organizing the Master Closet

There are so many ways to organize a master bedroom closet. By color, clothing items, or just stuff it in there and so many more! What is your favorite? I like to hang my clothes by color, solids then pattern. Short sleeve, then long sleeve with sweaters together. It makes it SO much easier to get dressed because I don't have to search for items. HOWEVER, every once in a while it needs to be reorganized. I have also been considering painting or wallpapering the closet... your thoughts? {the first picture is the after and the second picture is the before}I reorganized it and could not really tell by the picture which was which. I guess it wasn't that bad!

OrganizeDesign

The weather continues to be very cold and perfect for...organizing! I have spent some time getting things in order and I am excited to add some OrganizeDESIGN through out my home. Have I mentioned that I love the Dollar Store and thrift stores? The treasures you can find there!! CAUTION: purchase ONLY what you need!! Otherwise this can be a dangerous place as items have been know to "call" to you. Am I right? What OrganizeDesign projects are you working on?

THE BEST Organization System EVER!

Are you feeling the need to "get it organized"? To purge? To make your environment attractive and functional? I don't know about you, but when my house is out of order, my brain feels out of order! Maybe its the ADD but I just can't seem to focus on things when I am in chaos! And sometimes that chaos and lack of focus make it extremely had to get started...because WHERE do I start?? Here are a few things that work for me and then I will tell you THE BEST Organization system EVER!! What works for me: I ask myself the following questions- 1. What area is causing me the most amount of frustration? 2. Can it be solved/organized/beautified quickly? 3. Can a few changes help until I have time for a complete OrganizeDesign? 4. Schedule time for an OrganizeDesign session. For me it kind of becomes a triage way of scheduling. What ever area is making me CrAzY, that is where I start. Mail and clutter on the kitchen island is a source of chaos for me. This is something I try to take care of every day or every other day. Knowing the areas that bug you the most is huge in maintaining sanity! A few things I do always: 1.MAKE YOUR BED! I am amazed at the number of people that do not do this simple but powerful act. This 2 minute activity will instantly make your room look more pleasing. When you are ready to retire at the end of the day, you will be glad you did. 2. If you buy something, donate something. This helps to keep things organized. 3. If you don't love it, get rid of it. If you love a sale like I do, this is very important! And finally THE BEST Organization System EVER is...the one that works for you!! If it is not something that you are going to do, then it is not effective for you. It is not a good system for you. And remember organization and style may only be important to you! If that is your reality, embrace it and make it happen! Lastly remember the best accessory to any home is organization!

Thanks for stopping by! It was -15, feels like -42 when I awoke this morning! Schools are closed here yet again due to the cold. It's the perfect day to clean and organize my corner of the world...or my home office! I am currently sharing space with my hubby. It certainly is NOT big enough for my business and his work, but we are making it work. Our youngest daughter, her husband and 2 children have been living with us for about 14 months. The little cuties are sleeping in the room that was my former office. They will be moving out the end of April. But with a 3 week trip (I am not complaining!) and then a family reunion, I will not get to switching my office until the end of June. So for now we try to condense and stay as organized as possible. Is it cold where you are? What are your plans for the week?
